Gunda Kachri, also known as "Gunda Nu Shaak" or "Lasoda Kachri," is a traditional Gujarati snack made from gunda (also known as lasoda or bird lime). These small, round fruits are stuffed with a spicy gram flour mixture and then fried to create a crispy and flavorful treat.

Ingredients

  • Gunda (Lasoda): Fresh, tender gunda is the main ingredient. The fruits are slit and stuffed with a spiced mixture.
  • Gram Flour (Besan): Used to make the stuffing mixture.
  • Spices: Common spices for the stuffing include turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and sometimes a pinch of asafoetida (hing).
  • Sesame Seeds: Often added to the stuffing for a nutty flavor and crunch.
  • Salt and Sugar: To taste. Sugar is optional and adds a hint of sweetness.
  • Oil: Used for preparing the stuffing and for frying the stuffed gunda.
